Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages Launches Web Site For Its Advertisers
May 31, 2000
Media contact: | Phil Santoro, |
MIDDLETON, MASS. -- Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages, with more than a century's legacy in helping area businesses grow, has launched a unique Web site for its more than 700,000 Yellow Pages advertisers, as well as for businesses considering Yellow Pages as a part of their marketing programs.
The Web site (www.bayp.com) was developed in response to customers' telling Bell Atlantic that there are not enough hours in the day to juggle the demands of growing their businesses and their desire to conduct more business with Bell Atlantic via an online channel.
"We developed bayp.com as a supplement to our existing sales and communications channels," said MaryJo Howe, Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages vice president-Marketing and Customer Care, "so that our customers could learn about their advertising options -- both print and electronic -- 24 by 7."
In addition to offering help with print Yellow and White Pages advertising, bayp.com provides information on direct-marketing programs and on Web@OnceSM, a complete Web creation and hosting service from Bell Atlantic. With the help of bayp.com, advertisers can research and design a marketing plan that fits the individual needs of their business with a variety of Internet, print and broadcast services.
"Potential and existing advertisers can use bayp.com to research their options before they talk with their sales rep," said Howe. "The information our customers need to help develop a comprehensive advertising program supported by Bell Atlantic products and services is now available in one place."
To develop bayp.com, Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages reached out to Circle.com (NASDAQ: CIRC), an Internet professional services provider, to work closely with Bell Atlantic's marketing, systems and engineering groups. "Circle.com was critical in working with our IT team to help develop a Web site architecture that can grow with Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages as we respond to our customers' needs for more e-commerce and e-business functionality," said Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages Chief Information Officer Bernie Golden.
Added Golden, "Circle.com also provided a knowledge transfer on the site's application environment and source code after completing the initial phase of bayp.com."
Although Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages and Circle.com are already working on a number of enhancements to bayp.com, the resources currently available on the site include:
Know Your Market. Bayp.com highlights critical information on each Bell Atlantic directory, including the communities served, publication dates, circulation figures, sales campaign deadlines and demographic information about the consumers and businesses in that directory's area. In addition, this section provides businesses with information about their industry, collected through Bell Atlantic's extensive research, and usage facts that report on how consumers in a specific area use the Yellow Pages, the number of shopping references they make in a week, how often they use coupons and more.
Develop Your Plan. Whether considering Yellow Pages print advertisements or a Web site linked to BigYellowSM, the premier national online shopping directory, bayp.com describes offerings and solutions that fit just about every business situation. Bayp.com includes ad design galleries, which provide customers with suggestions and examples of how to create an effective ad, and Web@Once Web sites for those Internet savvy businesses that need Web site creation and hosting services.
Online Directory Ordering. Visitors to bayp.com can order copies of Bell Atlantic directories.
Customer Service. Information is readily available to assist with business issues 24 hours a day. Answers to frequently asked questions, from "what communities are included in a specific directory" to "how do I get information about my telephone service" can be found instantly.
