BELL ATLANTIC ADDING JOBS IN PENNSYLVANIA

Company Plans to Hire about 140 Customer Service Personnel this
Summer

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Wanted: People who thrive in a
fast-paced environment. Pay: $337-$687 a week. Company-paid training.
Outstanding benefits. Call Bell Atlantic: 1-800-737-1877.

Bell Atlantic plans to add about 140 positions in its residence
sales and service centers in Pennsylvania by the end of July.

A dramatic surge in demand for new telephone lines and other
services from residential telephone customers is behind the need
for the additional customer service staff. Call volumes are up
58 percent in the state for the first six months of 1996 compared
with the previous year.

"We want to get the word out that we're looking for qualified
applicants so we can fill these jobs as quickly as possible,"
said William Harral,
Bell Atlantic-Pennsylvania president. "We're
absolutely committed to providing the best service possible for
our customers, and right now we need more people on our staff
to do that."

Interested individuals may call 1-800-737-1877 toll-free 24 hours
a day, seven days a week to be considered for the available positions.

Bell Atlantic currently has openings for sales/service consultants
in nine offices. In western Pennsylvania, the company needs to
fill jobs in Pittsburgh, East Liberty, Washington, Rochester and
Uniontown. There also are openings in Lancaster, Bloomsburg and
Stroudsburg. In the northeastern part of the state, applicants
especially are needed in Scranton.

Sales consultants handle requests from new or existing customers
for installation, changes in telephone service or disconnection.
They also sell Bell Atlantic telephone services to customers
as well as handle billing and other problems.

Starting wages are $337 weekly, although those with substantial
customer sales and service experience may begin at a higher rate.
Within three years, consultants can reach the top wage rate of
$687.50 per week

Applicants must take several tests and assessments to determine
their ability to handle customer phone calls. They must speak
English clearly, be able to operate a computer terminal and be
willing to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Those
who qualify for the positions will receive company-paid training.
