This is statement from Donna Epps, Vice President, Strategic Alliances, Verizon.

Today, our CEO, Hans Vestberg, along with over 100 other CEOs representing nearly every sector of the American economy urged Congress to pass a permanent, bipartisan solution this year to protect the Dreamers.

Verizon has long supported comprehensive immigration reform and has repeatedly called on Congress to move quickly to protect the Dreamers. As most folks know by now, the Dreamers are the nearly 800,000 individuals in the United States, who arrived in the country as undocumented immigrants when they were children.

Dreamers grew up in this country and are now in schools and/or the workforce, contributing their talents, hard work and creativity to our communities. It is time to give Dreamers certainty by having Congress pass a law that will allow them to continue living, working and contributing to our communities.

At Verizon, we have benefited immeasurably from the diverse experiences, talents and work ethic of our immigrant employees as have most other large companies and our country as a whole. As the letter makes clear, with the ongoing immigration and border security negotiations occurring on Capitol Hill, now is the time for Congress to pass a law to protect the Dreamers.

We’re hopeful Congress will give the Dreamers the security they need.
