INDIANAPOLIS - When you have hundreds of thousands of fans gathered at one of the world's largest sports venues like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, being able to share the moment via Facebook livestreaming, SnapChat and Instagram is almost as important as being there. That's one of the true tests of your wireless network.

Verizon's sustained investments (more than $400 million in the past five years in the Indianapolis area alone) ensure its customers are covered - whether at the track, while running late for dinner, or when power goes out during a storm.

These sustained enhancements helped the leading wireless provider come out on top in the latest rankings by RootMetrics®. According to the nation's most rigorous, independent study, Verizon was rated #1 in overall network performance yet again in Indianapolis.

Verizon continues to significantly lead the industry in network performance thanks to consistent investments both in its current network and its future – 5G. Indianapolis is one of 11 test markets for Verizon's 5G pre-commercial trials and back in May reporters and elected officials had a chance to see that progress first hand.

In addition to having the best network in Indianapolis, Verizon has been rated the fastest four times in a row.

Much of the Indianapolis area investments have come in the form of small cells – mini cell sites that are hidden in plain sight – on top of traffic lights and utility poles that help boost coverage and capacity in densely populated areas, including downtown, near Lucas Oil Stadium, Indiana Convention Center and surrounding the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And small cells are just one of the ways Verizon continues to invest in the newest technologies and add capacity and prepare for the future.

"Our network team lives, works and plays in the Indianapolis area and our proud engineers never tire of providing our customers with a consistent exceptional experience," said Market President John Granby.

Building the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE network – 2.4 million square miles – means customers can count on Verizon's network in Indianapolis and across the country, when they need it most.
