At Verizon’s Technology Solutions Improving Life reception in Washington, D.C., company officials showed city leaders and government officials firsthand how Verizon – as an industry leader – is using innovation and technology to improve and change customers’ lives.  It was an exciting and educational evening on June 27 where the story was shared about Verizon being a technology solutions provider for residential and business customers and a good corporate citizen that invests in D.C. partnerships and communities.

With more than 75 guests in attendance, Verizon highlighted the benefits of its networks, touted the reliability of fiber technology and demonstrated products such a Home Phone Connect, which provides wireless equipment for use with home voice service, and HomeFusion, a service that provides high-speed in-home Internet access through Verizon’s 4G LTE network.  HomeFusion is a reliable alternative to residential broadband, especially in areas with limited broadband availability.

DC Tech Reception

A few of Verizon’s shared success community partners – including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, Children’s National Medical Center, Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care and Unity Health Care – were on hand to show how they use technology in their programs.  These initiatives include, but are not limited to, domestic violence prevention programs, sustainability efforts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs, telemedicine, electronic and dental medical records and other health care technology.  In total, Verizon invested more than $15 million in initiatives in the nation’s capital during 2011-12.

Verizon’s technology reception was held at the Washington, DC Economic Partnership at 15th & F Streets, N.W.
