Hey, FiOS customers, are you ready for some football?

So, the big game is Sunday and many of you are making plans that revolve around the big screen.

But for those FiOS fans who are not football fans, there’s good news today if you are relegated to another room for your viewing enjoyment.

If you have a Samsung 2011 and 2012 Smart TV or Smart Blu-ray player, you can now watch 75 live TC channels with that device.

Verizon and Samsung just announced that we are increasing the number of live TV channels you can view on these devices from 26 to 75. The new channels include CNN, Comedy Central, Disney, Fox Business, Cinemax, MTV, Spike, HBO, TBS, TNT, Food Network and HGTV, based on the subscribers’ current FiOS TV and Internet package.

You can also watch more than 25,000 FlexView on-demand movies and TV shows on these TVs and blu-ray players without requiring a set-top box.

Customers who have both FiOS TV and FiOS Internet can easily download a free app on their compatible Samsung Smart devices without requiring a secondary set-top box. For those who already have installed the app it will automatically update when launched.

The FiOS TV application has parent friendly features such as parental PIN options to restrict mature content as well as a purchase PIN requirement for authorization of any rental and purchases of On Demand content through the application.  The application also offers traditional features such as closed captioning, help and FAQs.

"Verizon’s mission continues to be delivering the best possible viewing experience to the multiple devices that our customers already own and use," said Maitreyi Krishnaswamy, director of product development for FiOS TV. "By continuing to upgrade and improve the FiOS app for Samsung TV, we are providing more ways for our customers to live the ‘borderless lifestyle,’ enjoying their FiOS TV experience on their own terms."

Verizon recently added the same 75 live TV channels and 25,000 FlexView titles to its FiOS TV app for LG smart TVs and Blu-ray players and Xbox 360 game consoles.

Consumers want to watch programming on devices other than their TV. Trends show that consumers are using gaming consoles, tablets and other non-PC connected devices to watch live TV. And according to Verizon’s Borderless Lifestyle survey, 24 percent of today’s borderless consumers watch live TV on gaming consoles.
