All of us: Nuestras Voces Unidas – Our Voices United.

V Team -

One of the things I love most about working here is the sheer diversity of our team. For us, it’s not a box we check - it’s quite literally our greatest strength.

Today, we celebrate that diversity, as we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month. Our theme this year is: “All of us: Nuestras Voces Unidas - Our Voices United.” - and it couldn’t be more appropriate. The Hispanic population is broadly diverse with over 20 communities and cultures. But it’s the power of a united voice that holds amazing potential for us and our customers.

Hispanics make up 17% of the U.S. workforce, but they also represent a critical growth segment for us - in 2019, the U.S. Hispanic population reached a new high - 59.9 million! These are our co-workers and customers. It’s so important that we take the time to learn about and appreciate the diversity all around us through the conversations we have, the products we sell and the people we speak with every day.

Recently, I became the executive sponsor of the Hispanic Support Organization. For me, this isn’t just a privilege - this is a critical responsibility. Our HSO does an amazing job of both raising awareness about Hispanic culture and advocating for our Hispanic team members. And, we’ll be merging our HSO with Verizon Media’s LIT, taking another huge step towards creating a united Hispanic voice at Verizon. I am fully committed to advocating for HSO, their members, and all the great work they do here.

I invite you all to attend the Hispanic Heritage Month webcast on September 18 at 3pm ET or catch the replay if you’re busy serving our customers. During the webcast you’ll hear from special guest, Claudia Romo Edelman, founder of the We Are All Human Foundation, learn more about the work we are doing for this diverse community and the unique value our Hispanic V Teamers bring to Verizon! No te lo pierdas! (Don’t miss it!)
