ATM:
ATM/Cell Relay Service
WHAT IT IS
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)/Cell Relay is a cell-based transport and switching technology. ATM/Cell Relay Service delivers high-capacity transmission at various speeds - supporting simultaneous compressed and/or packetized voice, data, video, and VPN applications.
WHAT IT'S FOR
ATM/Cell Relay is ideal for user applications that require high bandwidth, scalability and low latency. It is designed to support unspecified bit rate (UBR), constant bit-rate (CBR) traffic suitable for full-motion video and voice - where delays and cell loss cannot be tolerated. The service also supports variable bit-rate (VBR) applications which are ideal for LAN traffic and large file transfers - where delay can be tolerated. ATM/Cell Relay offers the additional benefit of complete Internetworking with Frame Relay.
HOW IT WORKS
ATM/Cell Relay establishes permanent virtual connections shared by many users. Since all of these various types of traffic can be carried on the same network sharing the bandwidth, the bandwidth utilization can be maximized. These characteristics make the network very flexible and cost-effective.
HOW YOU BENEFIT
- Enjoy flat-rate/unlimited-usage terms.
- Increase bandwidth
utilization.
- Reduce administrative
expenses.
- Expand and enhance
the network easily as traffic increases.
- Enhance network
security and reliability.
- Increase bandwidth
on the UNI, as required.
