Overview
What is the ACP?
The ACP is a federal program that provides internet service discounts for eligible customers. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced the wind-down of the ACP and the program will stop accepting new applications and enrollments on February 7, 2024. Customers must be approved for ACP and enrolled with an internet service provider by 11:59 p.m. ET on February 7 to receive the ACP benefit. Households with the ACP discount will continue to receive it through the end of the program. Without additional funding from Congress, funding for the ACP is projected to run out in April 2024. For the latest information, see the FCC's website.
Existing ACP customers may receive:
- Up to one $30/month subsidy for each eligible household
- Up to one $75/month subsidy for each eligible household on Tribal lands
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) was created by Congress and implemented by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to assist eligible households to pay for internet services. The ACP provides assistance to customers needing to connect to jobs, healthcare and virtual classrooms.
The goal of this program is to ensure that internet service is affordable for everyone. However, you must use the service to keep the subsidy. If you reach 30 days without any internet usage, you may no longer be eligible to receive the subsidy.
For customers who are enrolled in the ACP program:
- The FCC does not pay ACP funds directly to program participants.
- Verizon will apply the ACP credit to your bill/account.
- You must use the service monthly to maintain ACP enrollment.
- You will receive the ACP credit until the program ends as long as you maintain a qualifying internet service and remain eligible for ACP.
- You may transfer your ACP credit to another provider at any time. However, you may not transfer your monthly subsidy to another customer.
- At the end of the program you will be subject to our undiscounted rates and terms and conditions if you continue to receive Verizon's service.
The ACP is funded by Congress. According to the FCC, without additional funding from Congress, the allotted $14.2 billion to fund the ACP may run out as soon as April 2024. As a result, the FCC is taking steps to wind down the ACP and will announce the program's end date. When the ACP ends, the discount will be removed from your account and you will be charged the undiscounted rate if you continue to receive the service, which will be subject to our general terms and conditions. You may transfer this ACP subsidy to another provider at any time until the end of the program.
Verizon recognizes the importance of internet connectivity and has been pleased to make the ACP subsidy available to our eligible customers.
