It’s been a tough few months for Long Beach, NY, and other Long Island shore areas post-Hurricane Sandy. The services that we provide there were very heavily affected, too, and we’re working diligently to get them back up for residents and businesses. But we’re also taking part in some other important events in the community like last Sunday’s Long Beach Polar Bear Plunge.

Verizon reps were at the event's starting point, between Grand and Lindell Boulevards, where the brave souls who took the icy plunge were able to warm up in our tent while we handed out hot chocolate to their supporters on the beach. The event began at 12:30, so there was plenty of time to warm back up and catch the Super Bowl later that afternoon.

Even more importantly, Verizon presented the Long Beach Polar Bears with a check for $500, which they included in their donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the beneficiary of the Plunge.
