CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Verizon Learning Systems, a part of Verizon Communications, the national telecommunications company formed with the merger of GTE and Bell Atlantic, was recently recognized as one of the top ten e-learning organizations, according to a worldwide benchmarking study of best practices from e-learning research leader brandon-hall.com. Verizon Learning Systems' (formerly GTE Learning Systems) rank was based on an intensive four-month study rating quality, quantity and business impact of e-learning in the organization. Verizon Learning Systems provides instructionally sound and visually engaging e-learning custom courses and learning solutions on technically complex topics to its client organizations.

The Verizon Learning Systems organization will be highlighted in E-Learning Across the Enterprise: The Benchmarking Study of Best Practices, a first-of-its-kind research report written by Brandon Hall, Ph.D., an independent e-learning expert and analyst, and sponsored by Cisco, Eastman Kodak, IBM, Miller Brewing, Motorola University and NCR. Other organizations recognized in the study include Air Canada, Cisco, Dell, Ernst & Young, IBM, Rockwell Collins, Shell (Holland), Unipart (U.K.), the U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

"Verizon Learning Systems excels in the ability to portray complex technical information to salespeople, partners, customers, and employees in an easy-to-understand and engaging way, while ensuring instructional integrity." said Carol Sabia, director, Verizon Learning Systems. "We are committed to delivering the best e-learning solutions for improving organizational performance in high tech companies by providing effective training programs that are flexible, responsive to customers' needs, and engage the learner through the use of creative graphics and multimedia."

Verizon Learning Systems' participation in the benchmarking study opens the door to shared knowledge and experience, allowing other organizations to learn from and incorporate established e-learning best practices, says Hall.
