If I'm moving from former Bell Atlantic territory to former GTE territory, can I set up new phone service and discontinue current service with one phone call?
No. The two companies have not yet merged systems. You should continue to pay your bills and process orders through the company with which you have service or desire service.
To which company should I pay my bill?
Continue to pay your bill to the company named on your bill.
Can I still pay my bill at my local payment center (where applicable)?
Yes, your payment arrangements haven't changed.
If I have an account with Bell Atlantic and another with GTE, can I pay both with one check?
Your payment arrangements haven't changed. You should continue to pay your accounts separately, just as they are billed.
Will my GTE or Bell Atlantic calling card still work, or should I get a Verizon calling card?
Continue to use your current calling card. You will be notified of any changes to your calling cards. Your calling card and personal identification number (PIN) should continue to work. We will strive to make any changes as easy and seamless as possible.
Will my long-distance calling plan change because of the merger?
If you live outside of Pennsylvania or Virginia, there is no impact on your long distance calling plan.
Is my phone bill going to increase because of the merger?
The merger won't affect your phone rates at this time.
Do I need to call someone to change my service to Verizon?
No, you are already a Verizon customer. Your services haven't and won't change, unless you call and request a change.
Will my local services, like voice messaging and caller ID change because of the merger?
I donate one dollar a month to GTE Reads? Will that continue?
Our plan is for the "Check into Literacy" program to continue for current participants and to become available to current Bell Atlantic customers in the months ahead. For information about Check into Literacy, refer to the web site: http://www.verizonreads.net.
Since the company is selling most of its Internetworking group called Genuity, can I still pay for my Internet service on my regular bill?
Yes, the Genuity announcement does not affect consumer Internet service provided by GTE Internet (GTE.net). Account features and functions will remain the same, including your e-mail address, usage hours, billing and technical support.
Will GTE.net continue to provide my Internet service?
Yes, we will continue to provide you with the same quality Internet service you've come to expect. The exact name of the Internet service provider under the new company name has not been determined yet, although it will use the Verizon brand. You will be notified of any changes as they occur.

Will you continue to produce directories in my area?
I trust and like the information I get in a GTE or Bell Atlantic directory. How will I know that I'm getting the directory I'm used to?
Directories currently in the marketplace will continue to carry their GTE/Bell Atlantic covers until the next year's books are distributed. In addition, some directories currently being printed and/or delivered will also still carry the GTE/Bell Atlantic brand. All directories in the merged company will ultimately carry the Verizon brand in the future.
Will I still work with the same sales people?
Yes. In most cases the merger will have no impact on sales representative assignment.
Will the phone numbers I call to reach you change?
No. You can still reach us the way you always have. Just remember, the name will be "Verizon" when the representative answers the phone.
Will I be able to advertise in any books/directories that overlap while companies are in transition?
You will continue to be able to advertise in any books that meet your business needs.
Will my rates increase for advertising or service?
Advertising rates are based on market conditions, not company structure. Therefore, the merger should not result in any pricing changes.
If I advertise in directories in multiple states, will I receive discounted rates?
We will continue to offer multi-book discounts.
How do GTE and Bell Atlantic advertising rates differ?
Essentially, they don't. Rates for each GTE and BA book are based on the value that book has to advertisers. The circulation of the book and the demographics of the area it serves are two key factors that determine price.
Will Verizon Information Services spend more, less, or the same amount of money on advertising in support of its customers?
Our marketing communications campaigns, including advertising, will continue to be an essential component of our business and we expect to continue our level of funding and commitment in support of our customers. However, you can expect to see additional advertising to support the Verizon name change and roll-out.
Besides the name change, specifically what changes will I, as a directory advertiser, see?
This merger is expected to produce tremendous benefits for you. Among them will be better, more flexible, more responsive customer service, as well as wider, stronger brand recognition, which means more value to your ads.
Will you continue to use James Earl Jones as your spokesperson?
Yes, Mr. Jones will continue to be our spokesperson for the foreseeable future.
